Travel Grants and Awards
Colgate is a leader in supporting community oral health programs and the education of oral health professionals. The numerous travel grants and awards that Colgate provides are evidence of Colgate's continuing commitment to encouraging research, collaboration and sharing of knowledge with all members of the dental team. In most cases, our association partners administer the travel grants and awards which are sponsored by Colgate. Individuals should contact them to learn more.

IADR Travel Grants and Awards
Colgate has a long standing commitment to the ANZ Division of the International Association of Dental Research dating back to the early 60's. Colgate's support has evolved to include a number of travel grants and awards for the annual meetings of the ANZ Division and travel grants for the international meetings of IADR as detailed below.

ANZ Division Meetings:
Colgate Student Travel Grants -
Two dental students from each visiting state and New Zealand are presented travel grants to assist them in attending the ANZ Division meeting to enter the poster competitions. One pre-doctoral student and one post-doctoral student are selected by their respective IADR state councillors to receive the travel grants.

Colgate Eminent Lecturer Travel Grant -
Colgate's support for the annual ANZ Division IADR meeting includes a travel grant for an international speaker, nominated by the organising committee, to present at the meeting.

International IADR Travel Grants:
Colgate Travel Grants -
The winners of the predoctoral and postdoctoral poster competitions at the ANZ Division meeting are awarded travel grants to attend the International IADR Meeting to enter the prestigious Hatton competition. At times, a third outstanding entry in the ANZ Division poster competition is also awarded a travel grant to attend the International Meeting of IADR.


APRF Postgraduate Student Award and Travel Grant
The Australian Periodontology Research Foundation award is made annually to the postgraduate student in Australia who publishes the best paper in Periodontology, the journal of the Australian Society of Periodontology. The award is supported by the Platinum Sponsors of the Foundation, with Colgate supporting the award in alternate years. The award includes a plaque and a travel grant to attend the national meeting of the ANZ Academy of Periodontists.


RACDS Young Lecturer Award
Colgate proudly supports the Young Lecturer Award presented by the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons at the College's biennial Convocation.
Nominees are encouraged from all Regions. They need not be Fellows of the College, however, they must have graduated within ten years prior to the Convocation. The nominees will present at the Convocation and have their papers published in the Annals. The winner is awarded a prize of AUD$2,000.


DHAA Travel Grants and Hygiene Student Awards
Colgate presents academic achievement awards annually to dental hygiene students at the University of Queensland, the University of Melbourne and Curtin University.

Travel grants are presented to the President and the Secretary of the Dental Hygiene Association of Australia annually to attend the International Symposium on Dental Hygiene.


ANZSPD Postgraduate Student Research Prize

The Colgate Postgraduate Student Research Prize is awarded for the best postgraduate paediatric dentistry student presentation at the biennial ANZ Society of Paediatric Dentistry Conference. The prize is a travel grant for the student to attend the Congress of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry in the following year.


Dental Assistant Certificate Awards
Colgate supports a number of awards annually for outstanding achievement in dental assistant training.


Meeting of Leaders of Oral Health Therapy Education
The inaugural biennial meeting of Leaders of Oral Health Therapy Education in Australia and New Zealand is scheduled to be held in Melbourne, 25 - 26 July 2002. Colgate is very pleased to offer travel grants to assist representatives from each training program to attend this important meeting.

Colgate Oral Health Promotion Conference
The next biennial Colgate Oral Health Promotion Conference is scheduled for March 2003. A number of travel grants are provided to assist presenters and leaders in oral health promotion from throughout Australia and New Zealand to attend this event. This conference is the only forum that brings together leaders in oral health promotion from throughout the South Pacific region.

Other Colgate Travel Grants and Awards
Travel grants to bring speakers from throughout Australia and from overseas are provided for other conferences as negotiated with conference organisers. Other travel grants and awards are provided for special purposes or events. Organisations interested in requesting support from Colgate for travel grants, awards or sponsorships are encouraged to write to the Professional Relations Manager in Sydney, Auckland or Fiji (as appropriate) in May - June of the year preceding the event to allow sufficient time for consideration.
